Tips for Hosting Holiday House Guests
Whether you have been planning this visit for months or your Great Aunt, her extended family, and her beloved pups have just announced they are coming to celebrate the holidays at your home, it seems we can always use a little more time to prepare our spaces for our guests. Just like we want our homes to feel cozy and welcoming for ourselves, we want our family, friends, and loved ones to feel comfortable when they stay. Furniture Source International has tips to make this holiday stay the best yet.
1. Write down the WIFI password. Having access to WIFI isn’t a necessity, but it is a great convenience, especially for guests who may have to work remotely over the holidays or who may be trying to connect with family in a different part of the country. While you could jot the password down on a piece of paper, you can also display on a cute chalkboard or in a frame from our showroom floor.
2. Extra toiletries. Whether you are putting out items like toothbrushes, lotions, and shampoos your guests may have forgotten or simply making sure they have access to extra toilet paper and linens, having these available before your guests have to ask for them will make them feel more at home. Tuck items into a basket or convenient storage tote to make sure they have everything they need.
3. Literal warmth. Everyone sleeps differently and has different expectations for the temperature during their time of rest. By having extra pillows and blankets at hand, you can make sure they are cozy when it is bedtime. Having new sheets and a holiday inspired pillow can bring an extra special touch to their room as well.
4. Add a special glow. Consider a nice lamp by a reading chair and a candle to provide a faint flicker and welcoming aroma when they step into the room. Having different types of light can be a great way to set a calming and welcoming environment for your guests.
5. Have snacks and drinks on hand. We know that holidays are about gathering and fellowship, so having beverages, appetizers, and other treats ready and on hand set the tone for a festive atmosphere. Visit our showroom for serving wear, glasses, bar items and much more to make all of your favorite dishes and drinks.
6. Finishing touches. While you may not want to fully deck the halls with all of your holiday décor, having a few little touches of seasonal décor can help your home feel like their home for the holidays. The guest bathroom and bedroom are great places to add an extra item or two on the dresser, on the windowsills, or in another favorite spot.
